- Cord Blood Stem Cells are derived from the human umbilical cord and come frozen in a vial.
- Cord Blood Stem Cells are intended for a single patient and one-time use only.
- After opening, it is necessary to use Cord Blood Stem Cells immediately. If not, they must be discarded.
- Cells extracted from umbilical cord blood contain a mixed population of hematopoietic (HSC) and mesenchymal stem cells (MSC).
- MSCs are multipotent stromal cells that can differentiate into various cell types, such as osteoblasts, chondrocytes, myocytes, and adipocytes.
- Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are responsible for producing all other types of blood cells through the process of hematopoiesis.

PROCESSING
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are the foundation of the body’s blood and immune system. They have the remarkable ability to give rise to all other types of blood cells through the process of hematopoiesis. This process ensures that the body has a constant supply of healthy and functioning blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Without HSCs, our bodies would not be able to fight infections, transport oxygen, or clot blood, making them a vital component of our health.
TISSUE STORAGE
It is the responsibility of the recipient to properly document and maintain Cord Blood Stem Cells in their original packaging at a temperature of -80°C. If the cells are received in a non-freezing preservative like thermogold, then the cells cannot be stored and must be used within 24 hours of receipt.
